Elion Enterprises Ltd (hereinafter referred to as “Elion”) is the largest telecommunications service provider in Estonia with dozens of services ranging from Internet connection to modern digital TV solutions and business and IT services with high added value. In order to speed up its marketing processes and make them more effective, Elion needed a solution which would cut the time it takes from the origin of an idea until the idea is put to practice, and would help marketing specialists to better manage the marketing campaigns. Together with SAS Institute, Net Group offered marketing automatics solution to Elion. This helped to reduce manual labour of marketing specialists, and could manage and lead automatic campaigns. Thanks to this solution, the customers’ needs are better understood, also markets signals receive a faster response, and marketing campaigns are in general more effective than before. The joint offer of Net Group and SAS Institute was chosen as the best available software with the best introduction team in Estonia. 

Together with Net Group, Digikogu.ee portal has also been created for supplying customers with digital content. Digikogu is the purchasing and managing environment of digital music and e-books. Net Group was Elion’s technical partner in creating the solution. With this project, Elion had covered one of its important domains, and therefore they could now enter a new market. As the e-shop had already been created, then both the existing platform and wide knowledge of the subject matter were used to speed up the work. The project has resulted in new environment which enables Elion to provide a completely new product range.

 Also, Net Group has been developing Elion’s e-shop for nearly 10 years. The preliminary system of displaying and presenting products has become one of Estonia’s biggest web shops which is definitely one of the current market leaders with its solutions. By creating a fully automatic web shop, we have helped Elion to become a reliable provider in this business field, and the e-shop has also won the best web shop award in the respective category.

Rakvere Meat Processing Plant

With its over 120 years of history, Rakvere Meat Processing Plant is one of the leading manufacturers of meat products in the Baltic states. The main enterprise located in Rakvere also has three subsidiary enterprises, two of these in the Baltic States. There are altogether approximately 1,200 people working in Rakvere Meat Processing Plant and its subsidiary enterprises, approximately 900 of these people work in Rakvere. The mission of the meat processing plant is to offer enjoyment and satisfaction from good and tasty food to millions of people, by using its knowledge, skills and local high-quality raw materials. Besides Estonia, the target markets of Rakvere Meat Processing Plat are also neighbouring countries, and the goal is to secure its market share and promote high-quality meat products made of local raw materials (http://www.rlk.ee/2010/).

Net Group suggested Rakvere Meat Processing Plant to renew the whole IT-centred infrastructure – servers, disk drives, back-up copies, software, and also central network devices and routers. As previously used devices had depreciated and were inhibiting the effective development of the company, then it is difficult to under-estimate the benefit from new infrastructure. Rakvere Meat Processing Plant chose Net Group as its partner because Net Group’s offer was integrated and the best bargain for the customer.

Elering OÜ

Elering is an electricity transmission company which joins the bigger power plants, distribution networks and corporate consumers of Estonia into an integrated electricity system. Elering’s electricity network joins Estonia’s electricity system with the electricity systems of neighbouring countries.

Elering also includes the management centre of electricity system which manages the Estonian electricity system in real time, ensuring the constant and high-quality functioning of the electricity system. Elering’s duty is to co-ordinate work between different parts of the system, so that the security of supply of the electricity system as a whole would be guaranteed at all times.

 Net Group introduced new information system in Elering. This guarantees better availability of data and secure office work. It was a substantial project; Net Group installed and configured servers and data massives, and migrated all user data from earlier Lotus Notes environment to new Microsoft Exchange 2010 environment. All the existing and new servers of this system were virtualised on VMware software.

With the introduction of Elering’s office information system, the opportunities of errors occurring and data being lost were reduced to a minimum , and for the users, transition to the new system was completely smooth. The task of the new information system is to guarantee the stability and quality of service of Elering as the main electricity network. Besides the introduction of the new systems, administrators were trained, the whole system was documented and guidelines for administration were drawn up. Despite the huge volume of work and limited time, Net Group delivered the project on time.

AS Mecro

AS Mecro was founded in spring 1991. The company is specialised in the import and marketing of tools, devices, machines and lubricants. In addition, all devices and machines are guaranteed post-sales maintenance and repairs. After starting up their business in Estonia, the company moved on to the Latvian market in 1994 and to Lithuania in 1998. By now, a small company of just 5 employees has become an international company which employs around 240 people (including Latvian and Lithuanian affiliates), about 170 of which work in Estonia (http://www.mecro.ee/content/viewer/document/2173/mecro-ajalugu/).  

Net Group introduced innovative data back-up solution in AS Mecro. This eliminates the possibility of business-critical data being lost. New hard-disk-based back-up solution EMC Avamar eliminates the possibility of business-critical data being lost, also considerably simplifying the management of the whole back-up infrastructure and reducing its current costs. A back-up copy, mirrored automatically into two different locations, guarantees that all company data are always securely protected.

Together with the customer, the choice was made in favour of EMC and Avamar, as it is the best and most modern back-up technology in the world. Mecro’s business-critical data are stored in two different geographical locations – this guarantees that data are still there even when something should happen to one of the locations.

Avamar’s solution makes it possible to get completely rid of unreliable tape devices, and also save on hard disk space as data are securely backed up (backed-up data are de-duplicated, i.e. similar data are never backed up more than once), also the usage of intranet for the transfer of back-up data is optimised.
